Fortunately, the green fields and farm animals are not prerequisites for enjoying your very own country kitchen – and seeing as the country style is becoming more and more popular (especially now in 2018), a lot of kitchen planners have been tasked with giving modern kitchens a ‘country’ makeover (without physically moving said kitchen out to the country, of course).
It’s thus no wonder that kitchen flooring get overlooked far too often, shoved aside by appliances and textile-planning instead. And don’t get us wrong: these factors are important too, yet if you’re planning on designing a kitchen from scratch or giving your existing one a major overhaul, yet don’t plan on including a professional floorer in the process, the end results are bound to be dismal.
So, how do you go about accomplishing this without resorting to a cluttered look? Consider adding glass doors to your cabinets so everyone can enjoy your beautiful collection of plates, bowls and mugs. And instead of hiding those aprons and cloths in a drawer, hang them up on a few wall hooks (their colours and patterns are sure to enhance the country look even more).
It can be tempting to fill a large room with more furniture or cabinetry than is needed, but by aligning with an L-shaped design, the clean lines, airiness and generous proportions of a kitchen can be amplified and enjoyed. Take this room as a prime example. There's a plethora of room, which could have all been swallowed up by extra cupboards, but by installing the storage and counters in an L-shape, the centre of the room is left free and clear for a stylish island and a pared back finish. It simply works so well.
